How to Use the Tool

This tool calculates the surface area and weight of a rectangular duct section based on its dimensions and material thickness. Follow these steps:

  • Enter the **Longest** and **Shortest Side Lengths** of the duct in millimeters.
  • Enter the **Section Length** in meters.
  • The surface area is automatically calculated for each thickness based on the longest side length.
  • The results are displayed for each section and summarized in the final table.
  • Click the **"Print All Sections"** button to get a clean printout of all your current calculations.

Formulas Used

  • **Section Perimeter (mm):** $2 \times (Longest\ Side\ Length + Shortest\ Side\ Length)$
  • **Section Perimeter (Meter):** $Section\ Perimeter\ (mm) / 1000$
  • **Duct Surface Area ($m^2$)**: This is conditionally calculated based on the longest side length.
    • $0.6mm$: if Longest Side $\le 300mm$
    • $0.8mm$: if $300mm <$ Longest Side $\le 750mm$
    • $0.9mm$: if $750mm <$ Longest Side $\le 1350mm$
    • $1.0mm$: if $1350mm <$ Longest Side $\le 2100mm$
    • $1.5mm$: if Longest Side $> 2100mm$
  • **Weight (Kg):** The weight is calculated based on the conditional surface area and the `Weight Factor`.
  • **Final Totals:** The total surface area and total weight include a 1.01 multiplier for safety and insulation.
